Chance The Rapper Shines In “I Will Be Your”

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I don’t care what the internet says; Chance The Rapper can still rap circles around anyone in the game. Though his punchlines stick out, I think it’s his willingness to talk about meaningful s**t that puts him over the top for me. That said, I believe Chance’s next album must hit. Based on his latest single, “I Will Be Your,” it just might.

In “I Will Be Your,” Chance The Rapper indulges in some self-praise, boasting about the dancing diamonds on his necklace, his stainless silverware, and his superior rap skills. While some might perceive his lyrics as pompous, there’s an essence of black excellence that emanates from them.

Only Chance The Rapper can create a track like “I Will Be Your.” The song features a soulful beat with a firm knock, accompanied by three unadulterated, hard-hitting rap verses. There are no entertaining melodies or catchy hooks, indicating a return to the basics.
