Lil Yachty has been emptying the clip lately, and what’s notable is that he’s releasing all kinds of music, from boom-bap to pop to trap. His latest release, “Something Ether,” showcases perhaps his most eclectic blend of sounds yet.
Lil Yachty’s words are pretty reckless in “Something Ether.” In his verses, he curses out his rivals, boasts about his non-office job lifestyle, and references putting purple in his Sprite like Idris (I don’t get it). He also delves into themes of indulgence, bragging about spoiling women and using recreational drugs.
This song’s equally bizarre style matches the unconventional lyrics we get from Lil Yachty. Set against a jerky, robotic beat, Lil Yachty bounces off the walls using erratic flows, weird adlibs, and strange hums. It literally sounds like he made the song while on a roller coaster ride at Universal Studios.
