Cardi B Drops “Like What (Freestyle)”

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Cardi B is treating us like we’re stepchildren: She’s not feeding us as much as we want her to. Since releasing the Grammy-award-winning Invasion of Privacy in 2018, Cardi has been sporadic with the releases and has mainly done damage on features. Well, at least she’s been pretty active on social media, so you have some type of taste of her. Anywho, today, Cardi returned to the music scene with a new single called “Like What (Freestyle).”

In “Like What (Freestyle),” Cardi B reminds the world that she’s classy and ratchet, that she got a huge vagina, and that she isn’t with the playa hating that she’s receiving from her competition. She also flaunts her lavish lifestyle, doing everything she can to persuade us to rob a bank.

Though this song is labeled as a freestyle, trust me, it’s not that. “Like What (Freestyle)” has a catchy chorus, well-thought-out lyrics, and an original beat (Even though the beat does flip Missy Elliot’s infamous “She’s A Bitch” beat); freestyles usually don’t have all that. Though we get the usual spicy version of Cardi B throughout, I do feel like she sounds just a little blah energy-wise in the song.

Cardi B needs to release more songs so we can nominate her to perform at a Super Bowl.
