Snoop Dogg & Tha Dogg Pound Reunite For “Smoke Up”

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

While Snoop Dogg’s name is practically synonymous with hip-hop, some may not be as familiar with Tha Dogg Pound, his crew. Despite their prominence in the 90s and early 2000s, they’ve been relatively inactive in recent years, sparking rumors of a breakup. However, those rumors were dispelled today as the trio reunited for a new track titled “Smoke Up.”

I’m genuinely surprised by the level of hunger exhibited by Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, and Daz Dillinger on this track. Over funky California-based production, the trio delivers unapologetic and carefree lyrics, each showcasing their signature style. They also address rumors surrounding their camp and take the opportunity to pat themselves on the back. While the track itself is impressive, the standout element is the accompanying video, featuring numerous guest appearances and some impressive crip-walking.
