I’m the latest person to fall prey to the Tommy Richman hype. I saw his name floating around on social media this past weekend and hesitated to investigate why. I eventually did an investigation, and discovered two vital things: He looks like Zach Edey and makes all kinds of music. Tommy’s latest single, “MILLION DOLLAR BABY,” will go down as one of the hottest hip-hop records released this year.
“MILLION DOLLAR BABY” boasts production that gives me Drake’s “November 18” from So Far Gone vibes. Over it, Tommy performs more like Brent Faiyaz than Drake— not quite when Brent showcases his extraordinary vocals, but when he alters his voice and s**t. Lyrically, Tommy delivers lines that suggest he’s one of those slick white dudes who can attract any black woman on the planet, from Lupita Nyong’o to Rubi Rose. All in all, I f**k with this track.
