Kendrick Lamar Takes More Shots At Drake In “6:16 in LA”

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Because of “Euphoria,” Kendrick Lamar probably tied the score in his beef with Drake. Now, he’s ready to take a commanding lead. With the release of “6:16 In LA,” the Compton rapper pulled a Drake on Drake by dropping back-to-back diss records and using a similar naming convention that the Canadian artist typically uses.

Before we delve into Kendrick Lamar’s damning words aimed at Drake, I must applaud the song’s style. In “6:16 In LA,” we’re treated to a soulful beat that I adore and a version of Kendrick Lamar that’s refreshingly straightforward. By “straightforward,” I mean he leaves behind his old auntie, alien, and nerdy voices; instead, he adopts an aggressive rap style that feels completely authentic. Furthermore, the track boasts extremely impressive wordplay, flawless flows, and just a hint of singing. Now, with that aside, let’s discuss the shots fired.

After asserting his status as one of hip-hop’s legitimate superheroes, Kendrick Lamar begins to shed light on why Drake is receiving the 20 v. 1 treatment. Dot mentions individuals in his circle who wish him failure, the dirty money he’s distributed in the streets, and the personal demons he’s grappling with. It seems that Kendrick possesses deeper insights into Drake’s life, suggesting there may be more diss records in store. Overall, this one feels eerie and light.

Does anyone feel Drake’s life is in danger after hearing this track? I am very unsettled. This s**t reminds me of when all of Springfield turned on Mr. Burns.
