Chance The Rapper Takes Us Down Memory Lane In “Together”

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

The legendary DJ Premier helped produce this track.

Y’all left Chance The Rapper for dead, and I don’t like that. Despite giving us classics like Coloring Book and Acid Rap, the moment he dropped the not-so-favorable The Big Day, everyone switched up on him faster than Durant switched up on the Warriors. Well, Chance has a chance to win Comeback Player of the Decade if his next album hits. To prepare us for it, he dropped a new single with DJ Premier called “Together.”

In “Together,” Chance The Rapper does some reminiscing. He mentions the tasty dishes his aunt used to cook for family members, the fights he used to get into with his cousins, and the fly gear he used to rock when he was a kid. Though some of the track is about reflecting, I think its primary purpose is to remind you to always stay close to your loved ones.

As I’ve mentioned multiple times in this post, the iconic DJ Premier takes the reins on production for this track. While it may lack DJ scratches, it’s enriched by a gentle, piano-driven sound reminiscent of Kanye’s “Graduation” era. As for Chance the Rapper, he shines with his assertive delivery, showcasing that he’s far from running low on moxie.

A rejuvenated Chance The Rapper is about to give y’all scary hours.
