Chigo Says He’s Back “Outside”

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Feel good vibes for the summer.

If you put a gun to my head and asked me what I think the best genre in music is right now, I would say Afro-anything (Afrobeats, AfroPop, Afrojazz, etc, etc). To me, nothing beats an Afro track with good vibes and infectious melodies. Someone who masterfully creates these is singer-songwriter Chigo. Hailing from Port Harcourt, Nigeria, by way of Riverdale, Georgia (yes, so technically, he is an American-Nigerian, not a Nigerian-American), he has created great tracks like “Jeje” and “Magic.” His latest release is the very smooth “Outside.”

In “Outside,” Chigo sounds rejuvenated. In his verses, he mentions wanting to dance and have fun with someone very special to him. What I love about the track is that you can feel the vibrancy from Chigo every minute. He sings with a nice glow, effortlessly gliding on the uptempo, afro-inspired production. All in all, “Outside” is designed to get you out of your shell.

Give me “Outside,” a bottle of wine, and a nice summer breeze, and I would be set for life.
