I don’t think y’all know how much I love Jessie Reyez. I’m attracted to her spicy personality, absolutely love her voice, and appreciate how raw her content is. Despite her impressive streaming numbers, Jessie oddly never seems to be regarded as a top figure in the pop scene.

Another artist who I think is underappreciated is Big Sean. Amid all the “Big 3” talk, I feel like people have completely forgotten that he is probably number 4. Appropriately, the two underdogs, Sean and Jessie, have released a new collaboration single called “Shut Up.”

Jessie Reyez and Big Sean are on the same dismissive page in “SHUT UP.” In the track, they both boast about their “phone full of options,” their fly gear, and their ability to put their partners in their places when necessary. Jessie and Sean definitely both come across as douches who can afford to be douches because they are cool as s**t.

Jessie Reyez and Big Sean both deliver verses worthy of chef’s kisses. I adore their slick deliveries, their seamless flows over the dark, sly beat, and their unbothered demeanors. While Sean’s verse may edge slightly ahead, credit must be given to Jessie for holding her own.

As someone who has a major crush on Jessie Reyez, I can tell you that if she tells me to “shut up,” I’m saying “yes ma’am” without hesitation. It would be an honor to have her command me to quiet down.
