Earlier this year, Kehlani dropped the fantastic “After Hours.” A week ago, she remixed the track with the “Cater 2 U” beat. Now, Kehlani is back with a new single called “Next 2 U.”

In “Next 2 U,” Kehlani portrays Charles Oakley. In the track, she discusses the importance of protecting her partner, emphasizing their special significance in her life and her determination to ensure that nothing impedes their relationship.
Honestly, on the first listen, “Next 2 U” caught me off guard. Its rhythm felt a bit strange, the futuristic vibes clashed with Kehlani’s passionate vocals, and the sudden shift to authentic R&B surprised me after the initial moments of the track. I’ll need to give it a few more listens before I can give it a definitive grade, so take my initial impression with a grain of salt.
I can definitely see Kehlani knocking someone out on behalf of her lover.
