3. Clouds

A grandiose track that closes out this album fantastically.

I always gravitate to introspective tracks like “Clouds.” In this world that is fresh off a pandemic, I think it’s important to put everything around you into perspective. That said, in the track, Westbay talks about chasing his dreams, losing family members, and tucking in emotions. He also talks about his woman losing hope in him because of his issues. Though we get your usual hard-hitting delivery out of Westbay, there’s also these raw emotions that will definitely connect with listeners. As for the production, it boasts this impactful vibe that will resonate with you mightily.

2. Gangsta

I love anti-gangsta tracks.

In “Gangsta,” Westbay calls the bluff of all the individuals who think they are harder than day-old McDonald’s. Specifically, he calls out those who claim they have plenty of women but don’t, those who have never been in a fistfight but act like they have, and those who lie about dealing drugs.

For me, the biggest takeaway from this track is the chorus: it’s catchy as hell and cold as f**k. I also enjoy the unorthodox, earth-shattering production and the sly, sarcastic rap style Westbay utilizes.

1. Bring the Love Back

Westbay sounds rejuvenated in “Bring the Love Back.”

In “Bring The Love Back,” Westbay displays his unfiltered confidence to the fullest. Backed by a hard-hitting beat with opera-like vocals in the background (Kudos to Joe Josh for crafting this masterful backdrop), Westbay drops bars that highlight his competitive nature, hunger, and influence in his city. Overall, I just love the juice and aggression the New York native raps with throughout this track.

CONCLUSION

Westbay has consistently delivered impactful verses throughout his career, resonating deeply with his passion and conviction. In Spread More Love, he continues this trend.

Do you know the number one thing I love about this album? It’s how we get to hear Westbay’s thoughts on everything from his growth to his come-up, his life struggles, and his experiences navigating relationships. Regardless of the topic he covers, he always sounds efficient, honest, and assured. To me, that’s how every rapper should approach their artistry.

Spread More Love blends explosive hip-hop beats with club beats, street-inspired beats, triumphant beats, and hip-pop beats. What I like is that Westbay’s gritty, confident rap style always fits the beats, no matter what. Way to stay true to who you are.

Ironically, I can hear Westbay’s love for the hip-hop genre based on his performances in Spread More Love. Throughout it, he displays the hunger, determination, diversity, and skills that made it the greatest genre in the world. Overall, this is definitely a good listen.
