“Kel-P Vibes” is likely Kel-P’s new official theme song.
If you call yourself even remotely an afrobeats/afropop fan, you’ve heard a track that Kel-P has produced. The 27-year-old, GRAMMY Award-winning, multi-platinum producer and songwriter from the glorious country of Nigeria has crafted major hits such as “Gbona,” “Sere,” and more. He’s also collaborated with top artists like Burna Boy, Rema, WizKid, and others.
Did you know that Kel-P is also a solo artist? In the past two years, he has released a ton of singles, including “What Have You Done?,” “In My Feelings,” “Warning,” “Motion,” and more. Kel-P’s latest single, “Kel P Vibes,” is another standout track from his new album, Bully Season Vol. 2: Pretty Girls Love Afrobeats.
For many of Kel-P’s tracks, a woman starts it off by saying “it’s Kel-P vibes.” Because of this, I believe this is his unofficial theme song. Throughout “Kel-P Vibes,” Kel-P lets you know what he’s all about, bringing up his unflappable mentality, unforgiving ways, and great work ethic.
Though “Kel-P Vibes” features punchy lyrics, it maintains a smooth overall vibe. Backed by an easygoing, partly dramatic afrobeats beat, Kel-P delivers calm vocals accompanied by highly infectious melodies. At a certain point, he even finds himself grooving, which is when I think the song feels its most lighthearted.
Kel-P’s journey from producing major hits to crafting his own music showcases his versatility and talent. His ability to create captivating music, whether behind the scenes or at the forefront, is truly impressive. “Kel-P Vibes” is a testament to his artistic growth and a must-listen for fans of afrobeats and afropop.
