Childish Gambino Explores a New Genre in “Lithonia”

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Childish Gambino is such a talented muthaf**ka.

When the dust settles, Childish Gambino will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most talented individuals of the century (The Century, Craig). His acting career spans sitcoms, comedy-dramas, dramas, action movies, horrors, and cartoons, showcasing his versatility. As a musician, he has released tracks across rap, R&B, and beyond—truly demonstrating his ability to excel in diverse genres. Everything he touches seems to turn to gold.

Soon, Childish Gambino will make his return to the movie world with a new film titled “Bando Stone & The World.” As a precursor to its release, he has dropped a new single named “Lithonia.” Believe it or not, the track is rooted in alternative rock (This negro is a beast).

“Lithonia” rides on a divine, piano-driven, edgy rock beat that will make you shout ‘amen’ while feeling the urge to smash every guitar in sight. Childish Gambino delivers an unapologetic, carefree performance with passionate vocals that delve into themes of liberation, lost love, and neglect. I’m enamored with the track; I only wish I had more context to fully grasp its meaning.

Childish Gambino decides who he wants to be for the day as soon as he wakes up.
