Quavo & Lana Del Rey Unite Their Unique Styles in “Tough”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

How did this collaboration come about?

One of the main reasons I know Lana Del Rey is her super smash hit “Summertime Sadness.” When that song was popular, especially the EDM version, it was a club anthem that really made an impact.

These days, Lana Del Rey’s music isn’t often heard in clubs, so it’s intriguing to see her collaborate with Quavo, a trap rapper whose music is always in the clubs, on their new track “Tough.”

In “Tough,” you get a seamless blend of pop and hip-hop. For starters, the atmospheric instrumental features a nice tempo, touching guitar licks, and occasional trap vibes. As for Lana Del Rey, she delivers angelic vocals while Quavo provides both punchy and smooth melodic raps. The duo discusses enduring hardships, weathering storms, and blending their different backgrounds. Surprisingly, their chemistry is genuinely impressive.
