Flau’jae proves she can rap her ass off in “Best Of Both Worlds.”

3. Damaged

I could’ve put “Karma” in this spot, but I just thought “Damaged” sounded too real.

In “Damaged,” Flau’jae boldly asserts her determination to succeed against all odds, expressing her commitment to either get rich or die trying. She also reflects on her faith, proclaiming divine protection, and emphasizes her unwavering focus and pursuit of her dreams. Similar to “Perfect Timing,” Flau’jae occasionally showcases her singing side alongside her relentless rap style, harmonizing seamlessly with the stirring production.

2. Perfect Timing

Oh, she can sing, too?

“Perfect Timing” stands out as my favorite track from this project. Flau’jae’s emotional hook is infectious and heartwarming, while her passionate rap verses add a hard-hitting vibe that showcases her determined mindset to overcome challenges. The piano-driven beat provides just the right amount of impact to complement both elements perfectly.

1. Came Out A Beast (Ft. Lil Wayne)

Flau’jae going bar for bar with Lil Wayne on her debut is impressive; she also went three for three against Caitlin Clark in college last year.

“Came Out A Beast” impresses as a rap banger in every aspect. The soulful, bass-booming beat sets the tone perfectly, complementing Flau’jae’s confident and punchy verse that underscores her rising stock. As for Lil Wayne, he talks about a bunch of random s**t, like sugary vajayjay, loud-ass weed, and choppers that ring.

OVERALL RATING

(C-)

No cap, guys: Flau’jae is decent on the mic. I love the hunger, confidence, and relentless flows she raps with in Best Of Both Worlds. I also love that she mixes thoughtful records like “Legendary Flows” and “Perfect Timing” with carefree tracks like “AMF.”

As impressed as I am with the verses Flau’jae delivers, I do wish they were a bit more potent and that she settled on a distinct sound (it felt like she experimented with too many styles in the project). With more experience in the game, she could definitely hone in on this. Overall, this project shows off Flau’jae’s bright future.
