Dreamville and Friends (Minus J. Cole) produce more heat in “Revenge of The Dreamers III: Director’s Cut.”

TOP 5 SONGS

5. Up Up Away (Ft. EARTHGANG, JID & Vince Staples)

“Up Up Away” features a few rappers that can take Kendrick Lamar to game 7 of a rap battle.

“Up Up Away” sees EARTHGANG, JID, and Vince Staples bringing an electrifying energy that blurs their distinct styles. Here’s the breakdown:

JID kills his verse on the track by coming across as a violent n***a who loves to issue out threats using tongue-twisting flows and witty punchlines.

Vince Staples kills his verse on the track by coming across as a violent n***a that doesn’t give a damn about consequences.

EARTHGANG kills their verse on the track by coming across as violent n***as with good chemistry.

Yes, everyone on this track sounds like a killer.

4. Late Night (Ft. Cozz, Omen, Buddy & Landstrip Chip)

Raise your hands if your late nights used to consist of watching BET Uncut.

“Late Night” might not feature the biggest stars from Dreamville, but in my opinion, the track is pretty dope. It boasts tough bars from Cozz, Omen, Buddy, and Landstrip Chip, reflecting on overcoming odds and achieving success. The infectious hook and captivating beat elevate the mood, providing both hype and a chill vibe.

3. BUSSIT (Ft. Ari Lennox)

Yep, it’s time to get that lotion out, fellas.

“BUSSIT” captivates with its hypnotic vocals, raw and raunchy lyrics, and a beat that’s cooler than Stefan. While it might not be the ideal pregame anthem, it creates the perfect atmosphere for a late-night rendezvous with that badass chick you’ve been eager to hang out with.

I think Ari Lennox and Erykah Badu are the same people.

2. Big Black Truck (Ft. JID)

There are a lot of negroes on this album, but the best one is the only one to get his own track.

Is “Big Black Truck” an enjoyable track? I don’t think so. It features this weird-ass, Amityville-when-the-pastor-was-taking-a-dump-with-all-those-flies-around-type beat that I just don’t love. So, why did it make this list, then? Because JID puts up a borderline Godly rap performance. The flows he f**ked with made my head go in several circles. Now I have to go to Urgent Care (F**k you, JID).

1. Still Dreamin (Ft. JID, 6LACK, Lute & Ari Lennox)

This track reminds me of Eminem’s earlier work.

“Still Dreamin” resonated deeply with me. JID, 6LACK, Lute, and Ari Lennox vividly share their journeys through adversity, offering insights into their come-ups, the motivational wisdom they’ve embraced, and their romantic challenges. The track’s somber beat and profound lyrics command attention, but what stands out most is J.I.D. and 6LACK’s uncanny ability to echo each other’s styles (That was crazy to me),

OVERALL RATING

(B-) (82%)

The revamped version of Revenge of The Dreamers III follows the same path as the original, delivering authentic and raw rap tracks that will resonate with genre enthusiasts.

The rapping on Revenge Of The Dreamers III: The Director’s Cut is flawless. JID impresses with dynamic and meaningful verses, Bas effortlessly drops killer bars, EARTHGANG brings impeccable energy, and Cozz and Omen evoke old-school hip-hop vibes. Featured guests like Dreezy, Vince Staples, Reason, Buddy, 6LACK, and Guapdad 4000 seamlessly match the album’s energy.

Ari Lennox anchors the R&B section with soulful ’90s vibes throughout. However, the album’s hooks feel somewhat neglected, which can be a blessing as it emphasizes the raw bars dominating the album but also a curse for listeners seeking variety.

The instrumentals on Revenge Of The Dreamers III: Director’s Cut are fantastic. They evoke head-nodding and inspire freestyling urges reminiscent of classic hip-hop.

Overall, Revenge of The Dreamers III: The Director’s Cut proves that music from artists who aren’t A-listers can be thoroughly enjoyable. It will tell me all I need to know if you think this project is boring.
