⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Rating: 4.5 out of 5.In the past two weeks, I’ve heard Jelly Roll featured on both an Eminem track and an mgk track (I swear to you, these beefs are so fake).
I don’t mean to be an asshole here (though that’s often what people say right before they are), but you can just look at mgk and Jelly Roll and see that they’ve been through some s**t. Both have bodies marked up like the subways in Harlem and often have a sad look about them.
mgk and Jelly Roll’s music match their personalities. These days, they create vulnerable, introspective tracks. While you might still get some rapping from MGK, Jelly Roll has fully transitioned from hip-hop to country.
For “Lonely Road,” mgk and Jelly Roll meet in the middle, delivering a track that leans heavily on the alternative side.
See, I hear the devil wears Prada, but I couldn’t read the tags
And your horns started showin’ when I seen you mad
But I’ll wait for you ’cause this is not the face I knew
I probably could’ve saved us, but instead, I let us crashmgk in “Lonely Road”
More Heat: Central Cee – BAND4BAND (Review)
In “Lonely Road,” mgk and Jelly Roll emphasize the importance of patience in relationships, highlighting how cold nights can lead to severed ties. They also discuss the downward spiral that can occur if that special person abandons you.
I would call this track bluesy. Though it has its trap and country elements, I can’t see it being played in clubs. As for mgk and Jelly Roll, they deliver heartfelt vocal performances that are accompanied by highly infectious melodies. Overall, I think the two troubled individuals show great chemistry.
