Future, Fridayy & Mariah The Scientist Unite For “Slow Down”

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.

Future, Mariah the Scientist, and Fridayy have all had good years.

I don’t care what anyone says, Fridayy is one of the best artists out right now. Have you heard his voice? And the s**t he’s saying in his music? It’s on another level. Mariah The Scientist is also incredible—her talent is undeniable. Plus, Future’s got not one, but two album of the year nominations.

Given all that, it’s pretty exciting that the three of them have collaborated on a new single, “Slow Down.”

Future in “Slow Down”

This track is quite unconventional. It features a glitchy, unorthodox instrumental that doesn’t seem to suit Fridayy, Future, or Mariah The Scientist. Fridayy offers an emotional but somewhat unfocused chorus, Future delivers a verse about his wealth and indulgences, and Mariah contributes a passionate verse about tumultuous love. The lack of cohesion among the artists makes the song feel disjointed. Overall, it’s not quite hitting the mark for me, but it’s passable.
