Rating: 3 out of 5.Wait a second, NAV and Cash Cobain are different people?
It’s NAV season! I say that sarcastically because he’s like a groundhog; he comes out for a few days, then goes back to living in whatever the hell cave groundhogs live in. Right now, he’s out and dropping singles. Just yesterday, I reviewed a new single of his called “Rexdale.”
Cash Cobain has been the opposite of NAV. He has released a myriad of singles, including “Dunk Contest,” “Fisher,” “Daylight,” “Grippy” (featuring J. Cole), and “Rump Punch.”
Today, Cobain and NAV joined forces for “6AM Thoughts” (The song also features Bay Swag).
Hit an opp with a backhand, ain’t no flaws in my tennis
This shawty a freak, she just wanna know my fetish
And every time I splash in her, I regret it
You got control on me, baby girl, I’m fiendin’
I’m the type to hit your phone, act like I don’t need itNAV in “6AM Thoughts”
In “6AM Thoughts,” Bay Swag, Cash Cobain, and NAV talk about f**king with demon girls that do white, who are slurpers, squirters, and not good enough to be breeders. What’s interesting is that, throughout the song, the trio randomly switch from sounding obsessed to worried to in complete control.
If you’ve heard one Cash Cobain beat, you’ve heard them all. That’s how I feel about the production attached to “6AM Thoughts.” What caught my attention was the structure of the verses. Cash Cobain and Bay Swag trade bars in the first verse, sounding like two guys who just finished throwing up in the bathroom. NAV handles the second verse solo, delivering something that flows smoothly and has a pretty sly vibe. Overall, while I’m not a huge fan of the track, it does have some appealing moments.
These dudes must be dating white women, based on what I heard.
