The most impressive thing I’ve heard this year has to be Tory Lanez’s “Prison Tapes” tracks from last week, “Cell 245” and “L.M.B.B.” Not only are they fantastic (“Cell 245” is on some gritty rap s**t, while “L.M.B.B.” is on some smooth R&B-hop s**t.), but the quality is very impressive, given that Tory recorded them from jail.

Apparently, we can expect new drops from Tory Lanez every week. Today, he dropped two new singles: “Shots Come For Free” and “Know What You Need.” Below, I will talk about the latter.

Tory Lanez in “Know What You Need”

Have you ever been so connected with someone that you can guess everything they want? Apparently, Tory Lanez has. In “Know What You Need,” he brings up the fact that his woman likes driving in fancy cars, going a few rounds in the bedroom, and eating gold-encrusted sandwiches. As I think about it, he just confirms that women only want money and to get their backs broken.

Unlike “Shots Come For Free,” Tory Lanez opts to showcase his R&B side in “Know What You Need.” Over smooth production with attractive guitar licks and sunny vibes, the Canadian artist relies on high-pitched vocals and infectious melodies to spit his game. Overall, the track is incredibly catchy and highlights Tory’s ability to create universal hip-pop bangers.

How can someone make such a pleasant track while being behind bars eating baloney sandwiches? Tory is different, bro.
