“Ass so fat, I’m feeling like James and the Giant Peach” – Benny The Butcher.
Do I love this song’s production? Not really; it sounds a bit stale. Do I love the hook? Not particularly. However, Benny The Butcher’s verses are outstanding. I appreciate his wise words about snakes and backstabbers, and his motivation to reach the top is compelling. Ultimately, his steady flow and cool demeanor, combined with the almost church-like production, create a powerful experience.
2. The Most (Ft. Ray Moon)
Is this the smoothest beat Benny The Butcher has ever rapped over?
In “The Most,” Benny The Butcher rides a smooth, almost flowery beat complemented by Ray Moon’s plesant vocals. Benny’s exceptional wordplay, consistent flow, and bars expressing disdain for fame while celebrating his grind from the bottom stand out. Overall, this track showcases Benny’s versatility, proving he’s more than meets the eye.
1. Summer ’24 – Ed Lover Mix
Don’t let those comedies fool you; Ed Lover is about that life.
“Summer ’24” feels like light work for Benny The Butcher. Over this dramatic boom-bap beat that I love, the Buffalo native updates folks on how he’s living, mentioning his beef with someone who shares his first name, turning into a killer once the weather heats up, and avoiding 50/50 splits. He also reflects on his drug-dealing past, which he practically does in every one of his songs.
Though I would describe Benny’s tone throughout the track as laid-back, I appreciate how he knives through the beat with a simple yet steady flow and effortlessly hurls out clever punchlines.

Summertime Butch is elite.
When a rapper like Benny The Butcher starts approaching mainstream status, it’s natural for some of that raw hunger to diminish. That’s where mixtapes come in. Assuming Summertime Butch is a mixtape, it brings out a particularly hungry version of Benny. Over gritty street beats, he delivers sharp punchlines, asserts his boss persona, and captivates with his confidence. He also reassures us over and over again that he is willing to resort to violence if he has to. I think the album is good if you’re looking for something slight,
