Consequence Calls On YNW Melly For “Overdose”

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Why the hell is there a Consequence and YNW Melly song?

Consequence has been a key figure in Kanye West’s success, contributing to iconic tracks like “Jesus Walks” and “Spaceships.” However, when it comes to his solo career, it’s been somewhat underwhelming—honestly, I can’t think of a single track from him that I regularly listen to. That said, with the kind of talent Consequence has, the possibilities for a breakthrough are always there.

That said, Consequence has experienced a bit of a resurgence in 2024. A few weeks ago, he released “No Apologies” featuring Kanye West, and on Friday, he dropped “Overdose” with YNW Melly. Let’s dive into the latter.

“Overdose” is an unorthodox track featuring a minimalistic and somewhat disjointed beat, which is believed to have been produced by Kanye West. Additionally, YNW Melly’s contributions are sparse and random, adding an unconventional element to the song.

On the other hand, Consequence brings a sense of normalcy with his verses, addressing the profound impact of drug abuse on individuals and their loved ones. While the track is thought-provoking and a bit peculiar, it offers a compelling listening experience that’s definitely worth exploring.
