Benny The Butcher Releases “Buffalo Butch, Vol. 1”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Benny The Butcher goes toe to toe with three fantastic rappers in “Buffalo Butch, Vol. 1.”

Benny The Butcher has had a pretty solid summer. Just a few weeks ago, he released what I think is a solid project in Summertime Butch. As a matter of fact, I’ve been blasting “The Most” non-stop these past few days. It looks like Benny isn’t done also.

Last night, as I was dodging flu droplets my son was launching, Benny The Butcher released a new three-track project titled Buffalo Butch, Vol. 1. It features notable appearances from 38 Spesh, Drake, and Fabolous.

“Penny & Shaq Freestyle” is arguably the grittiest track on the project. It kicks off with a menacing, dark beat that exudes underground rap energy. Benny and 38 Spesh match the vibe perfectly, delivering unflinching bars that speak to their mob ties and street roots, all delivered with a raw intensity that feels like body blows. If you’re a fan of gritty, no-nonsense rap, this track hits the mark.

Drake and Benny The Butcher kill s**t in “Buffalo Freestyle.” Over an emotional beat that never fully gets started, Drake drops a lengthy verse showcasing a sharp, fast-paced flow that’s nearly impossible to match. His lyrics touch on themes like keeping his inner circle tight, attending power lunches, and navigating the complexities of social media. Even without much effort, Drake delivers pure gold. Benny The Butcher follows suit, matching Drake’s flow and delivering powerful lyrics highlighting his influential connections and meetings with the greats. Benny also utilizes an abominable flow.

The project wraps up with “Hard Way Freestyle,” featuring Fabolous. On this track, Fab brings up holding the keys to life, handling difficult women, and having Benny as his loyal right-hand man ready to handle business. Benny counters with a verse reflecting his meteoric rise from being on NFL sidelines to dodging the feds. Both rappers deliver slick punchlines and effortlessly ride the smooth hip-hop production, proving why they’re still some of the strongest MCs in the game.

Benny the Butcher has taken on the rap world and come out on top.
