Kendrick Lamar Drops “Watch The Party Die”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

If I were to guess, this track will eventually be called “The Eulogy.”

Kendrick Lamar’s 2024 has been a rollercoaster of highs and lows. On the bright side, he’s had some significant wins, like his massively successful Pop-Up Show in LA, being invited to perform at the upcoming Super Bowl, and releasing one of his biggest hits, “Not Like Us.” However, controversy hasn’t been far behind. His rival accused him of assaulting his wife, and he’s faced criticism from various angles. Today, Kendrick responded to the drama by dropping a new track, subtly addressing some of the negativity surrounding him.

Powered by a laid-back beat, Kendrick Lamar uses “Watch The Party Die” to address several issues head-on. He calls out influencers who d*ckride, people he finds unreasonable, gluttonous figures in the industry, and those who constantly watch his moves (the pocket-watchers). Amidst all the frustration, Kendrick also takes time to shout out the real ones who are eager to learn and even prays to GOD to help him “turn this big party off.” While he keeps a straightforward tone throughout, his relentless flow and subtle complexity elevate the track. In my opinion, it’s the perfect way to respond to all the drama surrounding him right now.

Were these lines about Drake?

No more pillow talking, jump starting neighborhood wars. Dirty macking bitches because your spirit is insecure. The flashy nigga with nasty decisions, using money as a backbone. I want his head CRACK before he’s back home

Hmmm…
