Lord Jah-Monte Ogbon Shows Out In “I’m Signed To Lex Now I’m Up”

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

And the winner for best rap performance goes to Lord Jah-Monte Ogbon!

There’s beginner-level hip-hop, intermediate-level hip-hop, and then there’s All-Madden hip-hop. To truly appreciate Lord Jah-Monte Ogbon’s music, you need to align with the latter. The Charlotte-based rapper is known for crafting incredibly intricate verses packed with sharp punchlines, astute wordplay, and hard-hitting lyrics. He also gravitates toward spitting over complex, detailed instrumentals that challenge the listener. Some of LJMO’s standout singles include “Yeshua” and “Denzel Davon’s Mission.” His latest release, “I’m Signed To Lex Now I’m Up,” continues to showcase his elite lyrical prowess.

“I’m Signed To Lex Now I’m Up” is divided into two distinct parts. The first features a flute-heavy, stripped-down instrumental that might make you feel like picking flowers or something. But don’t worry—it doesn’t soften Lord Jah-Monte Ogbon’s bars in the slightest. He maintains an assertive delivery, drops flavorful punchlines, and unapologetically raps about his willingness to deal with gold diggers and taken women, all while celebrating his rise. The second part shifts to a grittier beat, which brings out a more competitive, braggadocious, and disrespectful side in his lyrics. Altogether, the two sections create a highly enjoyable rap experience.
