TOP 5

5. HOW I LOOK (Ft. Megan Thee Stallion)

One word perfectly describes “HOW I LOOK”: explosive. The track features an action-packed, tumultuous beat that I can already imagine lighting up black clubs known for their pricey hookah. Over it, GloRilla and Megan Thee Stallion take turns teasing their opponents, highlighting the many reasons they are ahead of them in the power rankings. What I love most about the song is how GloRilla skillfully passes the baton to Megan, leading to a competitive exchange where both artists throw punchy bars at the beat. By the time you’re done listening, you will feel like you got your ass whooped.

4. LET HER COOK

This definitely feels like GloRilla’s new anthem.

As a matter of fact, GloRilla delivers several anthems on this album; however, none resonate with me quite like “LET HER COOK.” The track kicks off with a beat that is as disruptive as Patrick Beverley. GloRilla meets it at the rim with her bold and confident raps, playfully taunting her haters. As for the hook, it maintains that aggressive energy while being irresistibly catchy. Overall, I think this is one of the most entertaining tracks on the album.

3. TGIF

As soon as I turned this track on, the roaches began scattering (The bass on it is crazy).

In “TGIF,” GloRilla deep-ass voice makes a difference as she raps about turning up with her lady soldiers, kicking the asses of her haters, being a playa, and carrying more heat than an oven. What sets this track apart is the production—it’s on some Godzilla, monumental s**t. At the same time, it almost sounds incomplete to me. Whatever the case may be, I think you should move out the way before you get stomped out by a 20 feet tall GloRilla.

2. WHATCHU KNO ABOUT ME (Ft. Sexyy Red)

A track with Sexyy Red and GloRilla has to be banned in several countries.

For nostalgic reasons, “WHATCHU KNO ABOUT ME” will resonate with hip-hop fans. The track heavily samples Boosie and Webbie’s classic “Wipe Me Down” beat. In terms of Sexyy Red and GloRilla, I appreciate what they accomplish. GloRilla delivers her verses with an authoritative presence while infusing playful lyrics. Meanwhile, Sexyy Red flows better than ever, showcasing her ability to kick off a party with her unpredictable antics. Overall, I believe “WHATCHU KNO ABOUT ME” could become the one from this project.

1. HOLLON

Very respectfully, “HOLLON” is God-Awful spelling.

The first thing that will grab your attention about “HOLLON” is the beat—it’s on some heavy, trunk-rattling, brawl-in-the-club that spills out onto the street type s**t. Then, Glorilla’s gritty voice comes in strong, commanding your attention. She keeps things simple with no fancy flows or melodies, just straight-up lyrics about stomping on her enemies and leveling up. All in all, this track, which samples DJ Unk’s classic “Hold On Ho,” goes harder than left-out McNuggets.

RGM RATING

(B-) (80%)

After listening to this album, I am more than convinced that GloRilla has a long career ahead of her. In GLORIOUS, she does a lot of things that I was very fond of.

Normally, I try to pay homage to the artist first, but I have to start this conclusion talking about the production this album boasts: It’s excellent. With GloRilla having a mighty personality, she made sure she mainly did work over beats that felt titular, triumphant, and intimidating. When she wasn’t rapping over s**t like that, she was spitting bars over hard-hitting, soul-clenching beats or some certified club s**t. I was very entertained by this department of the album.

I appreciated the variety of topics GloRilla explored on this album. While I do believe she talked about whooping ass and being an untouchable chick a little too much, I was pleasantly surprised by her candid discussions of domestic abuse, her relationship with God, and her experiences with f**k n***as.

From a technical standpoint, GloRilla’s verses are assertive, energetic, and powerful. While she doesn’t experiment with dynamic flows or melodies, her bold personality shines through, making the project engaging. You really have to appreciate her confident delivery to fully enjoy this album.

It’s impressive to witness GloRilla’s significant growth, especially leading up to her debut album release. Her team executed a strong rollout.

Thankfully, Olivia Rodrigo was a good sport about it.
