Wizkid & Brent Faiyaz Connect For “Piece Of My Heart”

Rating: 5 out of 5.

There’s way too many playboys on this track.

R&B music looks completely different these days. Instead of the classic slow jams from guys who seemed like part-time sex workers, we’re now getting R&B bangers from cool kids who seamlessly hop between genres. Two of my favorite pseudo-R&B artists are Brent Faiyaz and WizKid. While Brent brings a bad boy flair with screwed and chopped elements in his R&B tracks, WizKid infuses his with Afrobeats vibes. Recently, the two artists teamed up for a new single called “Piece Of My Heart,” and they both shine on the track.

And the award for the most beautiful track of the week goes to “Piece of My Heart.” First off, I can’t decide which I like more: Brent Faiyaz’s absolutely mesmerizing vocal performances—the highly infectious chorus in the first part of the track and the hypnotic vocals in the second part—or the extra smooth Afrobeats beat that drives the song. F**k it, both are like that. As for Wizkid, on his own song, he definitely plays the role of Tito Jackson. However, I believe his Nigerian-flavored vocal style, combined with his lovey-dovey and spicy lyrics, adds to the overall concoction. Overall, this is a stunning collaboration track.

Wizkid is one of the biggest team players in the game. He stays letting people wash him on his own songs.
