5. Eusexua
This song made my brain tingle.
“Eusexua” is the title track and first single from this album, and FKA Twigs ate it up. She has a very unique voice, and she shows it off on this track. She hits notes that I thought were imaginary- FKA Twigs has a crazy range. While the entire album has techno and house influences, this specific track is more techno forward than some of the others.
4. 24hr Dog
This song is about feeling hypnotized.
FKA Twigs sings about desire and devotion on this track. The music for “24hr Dog” is more stripped back compared to the rest of the album, and it is a slower paced song. She speaks of submitting herself to someone else and giving them anything they may need. The song has themes of trust, infatuation, and lust, but in a more hesitant way.
3. Childlike Things
This song brought me back to a younger me.
“Childlike Things” is a bouncy song with a quick tempo. It has a strong beat, and FKA Twigs plays with different vocal sounds in the background. It feels like one of the art projects you’d bring home as a child and proudly place on the fridge. This song has a happy and fun sound, with Japanese language and influences woven throughout. It would be a good song to show off your runway moves to.
2. Striptease
FKA Twigs is feeling spicy in this one.
Unlike “24hr Dog,” there is no hesitation here. “Striptease” is an edgy, fiery song with heavy hip hop influences. Twigs light, airy voice cuts right through the heavy beat and loud background of this song. The lyrics are seductive, and I feel like the breakdown towards the end of the song is representative of the things that come after the striptease.
1. Wanderlust
This song stands apart from the rest.
FKA Twigs uses a different tone in this song. Her voice isn’t as light and airy. It is fuller, rawer and swimming with emotion. She opens her heart up on “Wanderlust,” speaking about internal debates and struggles with herself. Twigs battles misplaced feelings, such as depression or anger when she feels she shouldn’t be upset. She just doesn’t want to be alone. She wants someone to be there to understand her struggles and hold her through them. This song feels very real and honest.

RGM RATING

I mentioned earlier that FKA Twigs has an incredible range, and I mean that in more ways than one. In EUSEXUA, she explores a wide variety of beats, genres, and singing styles. You can tell she crafted this album piece by piece, like a puzzle. It feels complete, and I admire the artistry.
EUSEXUA incorporates elements of R&B, industrial, hip-hop, pop, and house music, among others. You can tell FKA Twigs has been in the industry for a while, and she came into this album already knowing exactly what she wanted. Her gorgeous soprano voice makes her stand out even more.
The album explores desires, needs, and inner thoughts. The entire tracklist feels like an emotional rollercoaster, with many songs reminding you that sometimes, your biggest enemy is your own thoughts. FKA Twigs touches on one-night stands, exploration, and, most importantly, embracing and loving your inner self.
