The Weeknd Releases “Open Hearts”

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

The Weeknd is about to drop some legendary s**t, isn’t he?

I’m still shocked that people aren’t making a bigger deal about The Weeknd’s upcoming album release. You could argue that he’s currently the biggest artist in the world, with an impressive average of over 120 million streams on Spotify. He’s also been collaborating with some of the industry’s biggest names, either contributing captivating features to their tracks or inviting them to feature on his own music. In the past few months, The Weeknd has dropped tracks like “San Paulo,” “Dancing in the Flames,” and “Timeless.” His latest release is “Open Hearts.”

So, it’s a little hard fully gauging what “Open Hearts” sounds like based on the sound effects going on in the background, but what I can tell you is this: It’s the ultimate dance track that boasts intoxicating synths, a nice tempo, and one of The Weeknd’s more vulnerable vocal performances. As for lyrically, he brings up the impossible task of falling in love after having your heart broken, making it seem like it’s equivalent to guarding Kevin Durant 1-on-1. All in all, I think the track is catchy and one that will definitely go crazy at festivals.
