G-Eazy Releases “Nada” & “Vampires”

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

G-Eazy continues to reinvent himself.

It feels like G-Eazy has navigated several identity shifts since breaking onto the scene. At first, he was one of the hardest rappers repping the Bay Area, then he transitioned into a commercial act, took an unexpected turn into emo-inspired singing, and eventually attempted to blend all his influences. While some phases resonated more than others—mainly the first two—none fully captured the magic of his early work. Now, G-Eazy is back to experimenting. Last night, he released a two-pack called “Nada,” featuring two tracks that push his artistic boundaries once again.

“Vampire” kicks off the EP with a unique sound. Backed by upbeat yet melancholic island-inspired production (and yes, while G-Eazy isn’t island-born, the vibes are unmistakable), the track showcases his signature sly rapping style. G-Eazy dives into the complexities of a turbulent romantic relationship, complete with themes of drug use, fighting, partying, and, fittingly, vampire bites. Bahari lends a haunting vocal performance that perfectly complements the eerie undertone of the track.

“Nada” feels like classic G-Eazy, embodying the vibe fans have come to appreciate. The track rides on a thunderous Cali-style beat that will light up the club scene. Throughout the song, G-Eazy raps about living it up and partying nonstop, even if it conflicts with his partner’s hopes for him to settle down. Of course, he doesn’t miss the chance to flaunt his wealth, reminding us there’s a hierarchy when it comes to balling out. While the verses are solid and packed with charisma, the chorus is a little on the corny side.
