J. Cole To Release Unreleased “2014 Forest Hills Drive” Album

You will get this updated version of the album on December 6th!

In case you haven’t noticed, I’ve been grinding hard on this site, covering all the J. Cole mixtapes he’s been releasing on streaming services over the past few days. Partly because there’s not a lot going on work-wise right now, but mostly because I genuinely love those mixtapes—The Come Up, The Warm Up, and Friday Night Lights are absolute classics.

Now, J. Cole is gearing up to drop a 10th-anniversary edition of what many consider his greatest project: 2014 Forest Hills Drive.

According to reports, the re-release will feature a brand-new cover and four bonus tracks: “Keep Heaven Dancing,” “Miles,” “Black Man In Hollywood,” and “Obviously.”

What many people might not realize is that J. Cole didn’t immediately hit his stride when he first debuted. Cole World: The Sideline Story didn’t fully connect with listeners, partly because it recycled too many tracks from his earlier mixtapes, and Born Sinner, while solid, felt a bit too subdued for some.

It wasn’t until 2014 Forest Hills Drive that Cole truly cemented his place in the game. That album was the one that put him on the map, showcasing his storytelling prowess and turning him into a fan-favorite. It’s wild to think it’s been 10 years since its release—it still feels as fresh and impactful as ever.
