50 Cent Hops On “Prayed Up” By Elesia Iimura & O.T

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

50 Cent just gave these artists the biggest stimulus package you could get.

50 Cent is undeniably one of the greatest rappers of all time, but he doesn’t release music as frequently these days. And honestly, who can blame him? He’s deeply immersed in other ventures, like creating movies, TV shows, documentaries, and even throwing shade at Diddy through memes. When he does drop new tracks, they’re often tied to his Power franchise.

However, today, out of the blue on a chilly Sunday, a new collaboration featuring 50 Cent, O.T., and Elesia Iimura, titled “Prayed Up,” made its way to streaming platforms. It’s always a treat when 50 steps back into the booth, especially alongside other talents.

In “Prayed Up,” we get two distinct energies. O.T. and Elesia Iimura focus on the glitz and glamour of their success, celebrating their shining diamonds and the journey from humble beginnings to the top. In contrast, 50 Cent takes the track in a different direction, leaning into his signature bravado by calling out rappers who feign toughness and referencing his gun to emphasize his no-nonsense persona. The stark difference in themes between 50 Cent’s gritty, confrontational verse and O.T. and Elesia Iimura’s celebratory and aspirational energy creates a noticeable disconnect.

Here’s the thing: I absolutely love the production attached to this track—it’s a standout element. The interplay between O.T. and Elesia Iimura is enjoyable and adds a dynamic layer to the song. However, I feel like the execution of the melodies and flows by the two main artists falls slightly short of what it could have been. On the other hand, 50 Cent shines with his signature rugged energy and a variety of dynamic flows, delivering a fantastic verse that elevates the overall vibe. The difference between the seasoned pros and the newcomers is unmistakable here.

I’m concerned that 50 Cent lost a bet to someone.
