These are my top 5 fantasy picks for 12/5/2024.
1. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (O 11.5 Reb/Asts) at Toronto
Pros: I believe SGA is on triple-double watch tonight against his hometown team, the Toronto Raptors. Look for him to facilitate, show a bit more energy in his play, and possibly put on a show. On another note, since Scottie Barnes’ return, the Raptors have been much more competitive, which could lead to plenty of rebounding opportunities for SGA.
Cons: My soul keeps telling me to take his five rebounds line. That seems like an even bigger steal.
2. PJ Washington (O 10 Rebs/Ast) vs. Washington Wizards
Pros: My Washington Wizards currently stink, with a 14-game losing streak that leaves them looking far from competitive. Despite their poor form, I expect them to come out tonight with more aggression, aiming to prove they’re not the worst team in sports history.
As for PJ Washington, his experience playing for a struggling Charlotte team might give him the edge to handle the “fake energy” the Wizards could bring to the court. Unlike superstars like Luka Doncic or Kyrie Irving, who might not feel the need to match that intensity, Washington’s familiarity with such scenarios might make him better equipped to respond effectively.
Cons: Wizards might be down by 145 points by the second quarter, so folks might get benched.
3. Malcolm Brogdon (O 8 Rebs/Ast) vs. Dallas Mavericks
Pros: Remember the “fake energy” I mentioned in relation to PJ Washington? A lot of it will likely come from Malcolm Brogdon. With Corey Kispert, Kyshawn George, and Kyle Kuzma all potentially sitting this game out, Brogdon might find himself stepping up to shoulder the extra load for the team. Because, look, guys, Luka and Kyrie aren’t going to take this game seriously until the fourth quarter.
Cons: He might not play.
4. Michael Porter Jr. (O 8 Reb/Ast) at Cleveland Cavaliers
Pros: Michael Porter Jr.’s rebound line has seemingly been stuck at 8 rebs/ast since 100 BC. He’s been meeting it at 84% this season (90 percent the last ten games, and 100 percent the last 5). Honestly, I can’t understand why people don’t think he’s worth valuing over that mark. Regardless, this is one of those picks I’m taking simply because sometimes you’ve got to ride the hot hand and trust the momentum.
Cons: Cleveland boasts a big and imposing front line, which means Michael Porter Jr. will likely have to fight hard for every single rebound he manages to grab.
5. Jaren Jackson (O 6 Rebs) vs. Sacramento Kings
Pros: Come on, Jaren Jackson Jr., your big ass can’t give me six rebounds? Since he will play heavy minutes tonight, I believe he can get you six rebounds. If he can’t, I will be very disappointed. Mark my words: He will get us exactly 6 rebounds tonight.
Cons: Domantas Sabonis might tear his ass up tonight.
Other Plays I Like:
6. Bradley Beal (O 18.5 Pts.) at New Orleans Pelicans
