Wiz Khalifa Shares Thoughtful Response to J. Cole’s Apology to Kendrick Lamar

Wiz Khalifa, while high, gave one of the best answers I’ve heard to this crisis.

Before Kendrick Lamar and Drake began exchanging barbs, the beef was initially framed as Kendrick vs. Drake and J. Cole. After Kendrick took issue with Cole’s comment about the “big 3” in “First Person Shooter,” Cole fired back with a scathing diss track titled “7 Minute Drill” (which was later deleted). However, after letting the track circulate for about two days, Cole ultimately apologized to Kendrick.

Tons of rappers had something to say about his apology; some good, some bad. Some argued that they didn’t want to see Cole back down when confronted in a beef, while others thought it was commendable that he decided to speak from his soul. Recently, Wiz Khalifa weighed in, and I really enjoyed his answer. You can hear it below.

I always say this on the Ill-Advised Wise Guys: Two things can be true. In this case, Wiz is acknowledging that, as a person, it’s admirable that Cole listened to his conscience and apologized. On the rap side, though, people wanted to see Cole, who often raps about taking heads off, approach the situation more aggressively. Ultimately, I’m at peace with how everything unfolded and don’t view Cole any differently, especially now that the Kendrick vs. Drake beef has gotten so much more intense. God bless the level-headed Cole.
