Will Smith & Joyner Lucas Reunite For “TANTRUM”

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Will Smith is a genius for getting Joyner Lucas to help orchestrate his comeback.

Let’s be real—I stopped caring about the whole Will Smith and Chris Rock slap months ago. Time has passed, and I’ve moved on. But if there’s one positive thing that came out of the backlash Will faced, it’s that it reignited his hunger. One major shift? He’s been back in the booth. In 2024 alone, he’s dropped five tracks, including “LIGHT EM UP,” “You Can Make It,” “WORK OF ART,” and “TEAM TOMODACHI.” Before that, his last release was back in 2021. And today, Will is back at it again, teaming up with Joyner Lucas for a new single, “TANTRUM.”

In “TANTRUM,” Will Smith addresses the people who turned their backs on him during his tough times, while reflecting on fighting demons. Joyner Lucas, on the other hand, adopts a cocky tone, exuding confidence in his journey and confidently shutting down anyone standing in his way. Both of their verses are uplifting, delivering motivation that might just inspire you to get out of bed and tackle the day ahead.

It’s clear that Joyner Lucas penned Will Smith’s bars on this track, and that’s totally fine. Both Will and Joyner showcase tons of grit and energy. They also flow seamlessly over the riveting, action-movie-style production that drives the track. Overall, this is a fantastic collaboration between the two light-skinned artists.

Joyner has Will Smith rapping like his beach house rent is due.
