Larry June Drops Chill Track “Treasure Island”

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Has Larry June ever thought about running for president? He seems to know what’s good for Americans.

Larry June is one of the few mainstream rappers today who feels so damn refreshing. Not only does he deliver bars over smooth production, which I’m all about, but his laidback tone and the wisdom he drops on topics like money and relationships set him apart. We last heard from Larry on his Doing It For Me album, and this past weekend, he returned with a new single, “Treasure Island.”

“Treasure Island” is driven by a smooth beat with a solid knock and a soulful sample that I’m really vibing with. Over it, Larry June delivers a chill tone and steady flow, proudly reflecting on his rise to success as something worth admiring. Now, he’s enjoying a laid-back lifestyle, cruising around the Bay and exploring the world. I love how this song flows, especially for a loose track—it’s just effortless.
