Who did Lil Baby pay under the table to make #1 on this list?
Billboard’s list of top albums of the century has sparked some major debate this week. Yesterday, Taylor Swift was crowned Artist of the Century, with Drake taking the runner-up spot. Today, the spotlight shifted to albums, and there was one big shocker: Lil Baby’s ‘My Turn’ was named the top rap album of the century.
Now, before anyone gets heated, it’s important to note that Billboard isn’t claiming this is the “Best” album of the century—this ranking is based on chart performance. Even still, it’s hard not to question how ‘My Turn’ managed to land the top spot, especially with classics like Get Rich or Die Trying failing to top the list, and none of Eminem, Drake, or Kanye West’s iconic albums making the cut either. Honestly, I’m just left scratching my head at this one.
“My Turn” Named Top Album of the Century by Billboard
My Turn dropped in 2020, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and remained on the charts for several weeks. It eventually set a record by spending over 85 weeks in the top 10 of the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Based on these stats, it’s clear we need to put some serious respect on this album’s name.
Do you agree with Billboard’s ranking of the top albums of the century?
