Joey Bada$$ is on a mission.
Joey Bada$$ entered 2025 choosing violence. A few weeks ago, he released “The Ruler’s Back,” a track where he fired shots at the West Coast and took subtle jabs at Kendrick Lamar, prompting responses from West Coast rappers Ray Vaughn and Daylyt. Many expected a lyrical back-and-forth to unfold, but today, Joey returned with a new non-diss record called “SORRY NOT SORRY.”
While “SORRY NOT SORRY” isn’t exactly a diss track, Joey uses it to flex his lyrical prowess and assert his dominance. Throughout the song, he speaks on being “anointed by GOD,” pulls cards, embraces his street-inspired roots, and sends a message to anyone thinking of crossing him. The only line that feels like a subtle jab is when he confidently raps, “Might delete later, but Joey won’t.”
Produced by Conductor Williams, the track features Joey delivering bars with exceptional confidence and wisdom, showcasing his top-tier rap skills. Rather than dwelling on diss records, “SORRY NOT SORRY” is an outstanding track on its own.
I’m loving Joey’s mindset right now.
