Woah, skaiwater sounds like every other jit in the world on this track.
Every grocery store has that random organic section filled with struggle versions of cereal, chips, and drinks. If hip-hop had an equivalent, skaiwater would definitely belong there. His music is unpredictable—each of his tracks takes a different direction. The song that first put him on my radar was “Miles,” and now he’s back with a new release called “pop.” As expected, it’s a strange one.
“pop” has a lot going on. At its core, the track is dedicated to a girl skaiwater sees as the perfect replacement for his ex—so much so that he’s ready to spoil her with whatever she wants. What’s interesting is how he delivers his verses with the confidence of a flashy, Playboi Carti-type rapper, which isn’t the vibe I typically associate with him. Even the beat is unpredictable, shifting between soulful melodies and trap energy before evolving into an atmospheric outro.
Did skaiwater kill this track? B*tch, let me know.
