GIVEON just dropped a new breakup anthem.

GIVEON released his new single, “TWENTIES,” on February 7th , and it’s giving me nostalgia. The song is about wasting your twenties on someone who, in the end, didn’t necessarily deserve your time.

“TWENTIES” feels old school, and the sound brings me back to the records that my dad used to play when I was growing up. The warm, rich tones paired with piano and brass instruments, and the slower, more stripped back beats made me feel like I was watching my parents laugh and dance through our living room. GIVEON’s music has a way of making me feel at home.

The track blends R&B, soul, and pop in a way that really accentuates GIVEON’s low, smooth vocals. The music on this track feels very romanticized, but the lyrics speak more about unhappy endings than new beginnings. He talks about the time he spent focusing on someone else instead of finding himself and sings about the things he regrets doing for his former partner. “TWENTIES” is a great song to just listen and empathize with.
