Drop everything you’re doing (Including your toddler): Cole is back!
J. Cole’s 2025 has been eventful, though not necessarily on the musical front. He kicked off the year with a series of blog posts, offering insight into his current mindset and future plans. He also earned a Grammy nomination, though he didn’t take home the award. Now, he’s back with new music, dropping a single called “Clouds” via his Inevitable website.
Powered by a smooth, laid-back instrumental perfect for sparking up and unwinding, “Clouds” sees Cole delivering an Outkast-esque chorus that sounds like it was crafted in a haze. His verses, however, are sharp and fast-paced, touching on the ever-changing world, Donald Trump’s near-death experience, his competitive drive, and the security he’s found through faith and resilience. He even takes a moment to address AI’s growing influence on music, adding an intriguing layer to the track. Overall, “Clouds” offers a compelling peek into Cole’s thoughts and creative space.
