Ina Forsman Shines on “After Dark Hour,” a Soulful Anthem of Resilience

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I feel like I was transported to the ’60s while listening to this track.

If you want to make it in an industry as challenging as the music industry, you need to be ready to make major moves—and Ina Forsman has done just that. After releasing her 2019 sophomore album, Been Meaning to Tell You, she abruptly left her native Helsinki to pursue a new life in Berlin. Bold, isn’t it?

Aside from taking risks in her personal life, Ina also pushes boundaries musically, dabbling in everything from soul to blues to jazz to R&B, sounding effortlessly at home in each genre.

If you want to fall in love with Ina Forsman as we have, check out tracks from her catalog, such as “Love Me” and “Now You Want Me Back.” Her latest track, “After Dark Hour,” is just as impressive.

In “After Dark Hour,” Ina Forsman makes one thing crystal clear: No matter what she’s going through, she’s going to be A-OK. The song perfectly reflects her journey in life—embracing the good, the bad, and the ugly. While the lyrics captivate with their pure feel-good energy, what will also blow you away is Ina’s “honey-burnt” vocals, the track’s retro-soul vibe, and its seamless blend of dance grooves with themes of happiness and reflection. Man, I’m blown away.
