Avenoir Unleashes Soul-Stirring R&B With “Art of War”

Rating: 5 out of 5.

There’s a thin line between love and war.

I’ll be completely honest: modern R&B singers don’t always move me, and I consider myself a major fan of the genre. Then there’s Avenoir. Hailing from the school of profound, vintage R&B—one that I’m pretty sure Brent Faiyaz attended—Avenoir crafts soul-clenching bangers that linger long after the music stops. Some of his biggest singles include “Shameless,” “TMW,” and “LINK UP.” Now, he returns with his latest release, “Art of War.”

In “Art of War,” Avenoir draws a compelling parallel between love and a battlefield, highlighting the emotional turmoil and betrayal that can turn romance into a fight. Despite its heavy themes, the song maintains a soothing, immersive vibe. From a production standpoint, it features a slow-paced, dreamy R&B instrumental that effortlessly pulls listeners into its world.

Avenoir’s performance on “Art of War” is nothing short of hypnotic. He leans into his high-pitched vocals, delivering a captivating and emotionally charged execution. As the first single from his forthcoming debut album, “Art of War” sets the stage for what’s to come—offering a mesmerizing blend of raw storytelling and ethereal production that makes it an essential listen for any R&B fan.
