Kid Cudi reveals on CBS Mornings that his friendship with Kanye West is over, sharing heartbreak over past collaborations and addressing his resolved feud with Drake.
During an appearance on CBS Mornings, Kid Cudi revealed that he and Kanye West are no longer on good terms. He reflected on the early days of their friendship, when they were “on the same frequency,” and expressed sadness over the creative freedom they once shared.
Cudi stated that they will never be friends again, explaining that he has repeatedly tried to honor the friendship code but always ends up falling out. He also called out Kanye’s comments about the late Virgil Abloh, describing them as some of the “most evil, vile things” he has ever heard.
Despite everything, Cudi acknowledged that he loved Kanye and that the rapper had changed his life, though he no longer recognizes the man Kanye has become.
Cudi and Kanye have collaborated on several projects over the years, including Ye’s iconic 808s & Heartbreak and the cult classic Kids See Ghosts. Many argue that Kanye’s later sound was heavily influenced by Cudi’s writing and contributions. Their most recent collaboration of note was “Rock N Roll” on Pusha T’s album—interestingly, Pusha T is also no longer on good terms with Kanye.
In addition, Cudi addressed his past beef with Drake, which began when he commented that rappers who use ghostwriters couldn’t be in all-time top five lists. However, Cudi noted that the feud has since been resolved under Kanye’s guidance. Interestingly, Drake is another person who is no longer in good terms with Ye (Do you see a pattern here?).
Kudos to Kid Cudi for speaking his truth. Let’s just hope he stays true to his words this time.
