5. The Vow
Ed Sheeran has never shied away from writing wedding-ready love songs, and “The Vow” keeps that tradition alive. This one leans into smooth R&B instead of his usual pop, creating a fresh sound for him while keeping the romance intact. With lyrics like “my vow to you is to love you and never let go”, it’s heartfelt, sweet, and bound to become another fan-favorite first-dance song.
4. Symmetry
Sexy is the only word for this one. Opening with a unique Hindi-inspired intro and gliding into a silky, sensual beat, “Symmetry” brings a late-night feel that’s both flirtatious and classy. Ed balances desire and playfulness beautifully, giving the track a mature but not over-the-top energy.
3. In Other Words
Stripped back and vulnerable, “In Other Words” is all about wanting to know every detail of a partner—the little things, the highs and lows, everything in between. The track is carried by soft piano and delicate strings, and it feels timeless in a way that makes it an easy choice for wedding playlists. It’s tender, honest, and heartfelt.
2. Azizam
“Azizam” is the lead single for Play, and it makes total sense why. The track is ridiculously danceable, and that’s exactly what the song is about—getting close and dancing the night away with his lover. The title itself, “Azizam,” is a Persian term that translates to “my darling” or “my love,” which sets the tone for the rest of the record. It’s a sweet, pop-forward listen that kicks the album off with energy and warmth.
1. A Little More
This one’s a surprise diss track, and honestly? I’m here for it. With a playful edge, Ed delivers bars we don’t often get to hear from him—including a rap verse that longtime fans will love. The music video even features Rupert Grint (OG fans know the history there), which makes it even more fun. Lighthearted but pointed, the song adds some spice to the album’s overall vibe.

Ed Sheeran’s Play is a highly anticipated return that blends his signature pop sound with touches of folk, hip hop, and R&B. Across 13 tracks (a tight 44 minutes), Ed explores love, lust, marriage, breakups, and even moments of friendship and unity.
What makes this album stand out is its global influences—pulling inspiration from different cultures and musical styles to give each song its own identity. At its core, Play is Ed doing what he does best: writing about love in a way that feels both universal and deeply personal. It’s the reason he has so many devoted fans- even my mother is swooning over the soft, sweet words the artist composes about his wife and his family. This is an album that’s as easy to throw on during a commute as it is to sit with and really feel—and it’s one I’ll definitely be coming back to.
