TOP 5 SONGS
5. The Contract
“The Contract” opens the album with a dark, eerie energy that feels like a descent into something unknown. Heavy drums and layered synths create an atmosphere that’s tense and suspenseful, twisting and turning like a chase scene in a psychological thriller. Lyrically, Tyler and Josh sound like they’re hiding from something—or someone. Some fans believe that “Blurryface,” their long-standing alter-ego, makes a return here as the shadow they’re avoiding. The song captures the paranoia of broken promises, sleepless nights, and the weight of anxiety pressing in from every angle. It’s an unsettling yet powerful start.
4. Garbage
If you’ve ever wanted a song to put your raw, unfiltered thoughts into words, “Garbage” is it. The opening line—“I feel like garbage”—hits bluntly, and the rest of the track follows suit. But instead of dragging listeners down, the song leans into honesty with a surprisingly upbeat, positive tone. It’s not wallowing; it’s owning the messy, complicated feelings we all have and turning them into something oddly comforting. That ability to balance heaviness with playfulness is classic Twenty One Pilots.
3. Cottonwood
One of the more reflective tracks on the album, “Cottonwood” is a slower, more atmospheric piece built on light drums and ethereal synths. The falsetto moments Tyler delivers are delicate, almost haunting, and they bring out the emotional core of the track. Many fans believe the Cottonwood tree is a metaphor for loss and grief, specifically a tribute to Tyler’s late grandfather. Whether or not that’s the intended meaning, the song leaves space for listeners to sit with their own grief, nostalgia, or longing. It’s one of those tracks that lingers with you well after it ends.
2. Tally
“Tally” feels like a callback to early Twenty One Pilots, balancing upbeat instrumentals with lyrics that cut deep. On the surface, it’s sweet and fun, but the meaning runs bittersweet. Tyler sings about inevitable heartbreak—how he knows he’ll hurt the person he loves, even as they continue to support and believe in him. It’s a cycle of guilt and love, self-sabotage and devotion, that feels both painful and tender. The song carries the duo’s signature blend of dark storytelling with a strangely uplifting delivery, reminding listeners why their music resonates so widely.
1. Drum Show
One of the standout singles from the record, “Drum Show” gained traction fast, and it’s not hard to see why. The track tackles numbness head-on, capturing the desperation of doing anything just to feel alive. Tyler’s lyrics explore the restlessness of not being satisfied with where you are, the reckless thrill of speeding, or even the simple therapy of driving slow just to let a song take over. Beneath the pounding rhythm, the core message is universal: at the end of the day, we’re all searching for a spark, something that makes us feel.

Across their career, Twenty One Pilots have never been afraid to experiment, and Breach feels like the culmination of that journey. The album blends alternative rock, alt-hip hop, and electro-pop into something futuristic and unconventional, while still carrying the DNA of what makes their sound so distinct. Each track feels layered with symbolism and meaning, encouraging listeners to interpret them through their own lens.
What makes Breach especially powerful is the way it keeps you thinking. Rarely does an album demand so much mental space while also being enjoyable from start to finish. Tyler and Josh manage to craft songs that are both entertaining and deeply introspective, creating an experience that rewards repeat listens. Every spin reveals something new—whether in the production, the lyrics, or even your own perspective. Breach isn’t just an album you listen to; it’s one you wrestle with, and it leaves you changed.

I’m giving it an 11 out of ten. Best album of 2025. If I had to pick a favorite it would be “robot voices”, because it’s filled with the hope I need in a very dark world.
