A mesmerizing afrobeat gem that’s ready to take you on an unforgettable journey.
British-born musical creative Alexandros Sarafis is the kind of artist who doesn’t believe in limits — or in sticking to one language. Known for being a bilingual rapper with roots that stretch from Greece to New York, he’s carved out his own lane by blending soul-centric hip-hop with Greek Laika and a splash of U.K. urban grit. His catalog already includes gems like “Side Eye,” “I’m On Fire,” “Roza,” and “Something Real.” But this time, he’s switching gears and bringing in a little help from Essex native Harry Mold, a genre-bending songwriter who’s mastered the art of gritty storytelling through melodic textures.
Together, the two cooked up something special — an afrobeat-inspired single called “El Poblado.” The track instantly radiates warmth with its lush percussion, smooth basslines, and dance-ready bounce that could make even a statue move its shoulders. It’s that perfect blend of cultures where hip-hop swagger meets Latin rhythm, all tied together by an effortless sense of groove.
Lyrically, “El Poblado” hits a sweet spot between love confession and late-night adventure. Lines like “Had a couple rendezvous, late night at the Fountainebleau” and “Gave me butterflies when I be looking in your eyes” sound tailor-made for a sunset beach party or a moonlit drive through the city. The bilingual (actually, trilingual) storytelling — switching between English, Spanish, and Greek — adds a touch of romance and flair that few artists can achieve naturally.
The result? A track that feels as global as it does personal. Whether you understand the lyrics or not, “El Poblado” makes sure you feel them — and that’s the mark of great music.
Chicago based writer and creative. Fan of 80’s horror, fancy coffee drinks, and late night drives.
