Miguel’s “CAOS” blends R&B, rock, Spanish, and soul in a bold, chaotic masterpiece.

TOP 5

5. RIP (4/5)

These are the kind of tracks that will have you checking your pockets to make sure your wallet didn’t drop from jumping around too hard to it.

“RIP” shapeshifts constantly — one minute it’s stripped down, the next it’s a dark, high-energy dance record. Miguel switches between being unchained and whisper-soft, creating a vibe that’s unpredictable but addictive. The hook lingers long after it ends, making it one of the album’s most memorable cuts.

4. Oscillate (4/5)

If you’re using the word “oscillate” in the bedroom, y’all are either not getting nasty enough or getting too nasty.

The transition from “Perderme” into “Oscillate” is seamless — almost like a beat switch. The track is hypnotic, full of textured production and layered vocals. It’s psychedelic R&B done right, with a chorus that sticks in your head long after it ends.

3. Always Time (4.5/5)

Chrisean Rock needs to take this advice.

“Always Time” finds Miguel at his most vulnerable. He explores the kind of love that consumes you — so deep it clouds your judgment. The stripped-down production puts his raw emotion front and center, and his performance is haunting. By the end, you feel like you’ve sat through a therapy session with a guitar.

2. Nearsight (SID) (5/5)

I’m ready for an R&B-themed amusement park.

“Nearsight (SID)” is one of the most introspective moments on CAOS. Miguel reflects on peace, growth, and acceptance over a stripped-down instrumental that gradually explodes into an alt-rock climax. His voice feels both free and fragile, making this song an emotional rollercoaster — and one of the album’s best.

1. New Martyrs (Ride 4 U) (5/5)

Why does Miguel sound like a 5-foot Deebo in this track?

Released ahead of the album, “New Martyrs (Ride 4 U)” is a standout. Miguel fuses grungy R&B with alt-rock grit, driven by distorted guitar riffs and soulful undertones. The track feels like a hood love anthem — raw, emotional, and passionate. Lyrically, it’s about loyalty and devotion through chaos, portraying love as messy but deeply human. Miguel thrives in this lane, blurring the lines between soul, R&B, and rock in a way only he can.

RGM RATING

(80%)

CAOS lives up to its name — it’s unpredictable, passionate, and genre-bending. Miguel continues to prove he’s one of the few artists who can merge R&B, rock, and experimental sounds without losing authenticity. Some moments feel scattered, but the chaos is what makes it beautiful.
