Kodak Black’s latest project felt pretty refreshing to listen to.
Kodak Black’s new album, Just Getting Started, has officially debuted at #77 on this week’s Billboard 200, earning 12k first-week sales. The release marks the thirteenth charting album of Kodak’s career.
Just Getting Started is a 20-track album packed with features from Chance The Rapper, Pharrell Williams, Gunna, Lil Yachty, Don Toliver, TTO KT, and Reign. It’s his first full-length project since Trill Bill, which dropped in late November of last year (We don’t acknowledge his strange Gift For The Streets release).
While the album didn’t reach the commercial heights of Kodak’s biggest success, Dying To Live — which sold 89K first week and debuted at #1 — it still feels like a satisfying listen, with Kodak sounding more focused than he has in recent years. There are only one or two tracks that truly miss the mark.
If Kodak Black is truly just getting started, I expect him to turn things up a few notches with his next release — and you can bet we’ll be there when it drops.
