I wonder which friends will pop out…
Atlanta is fully embracing Young Thug again, and the proof is in today’s major announcement. Thugger revealed that he will headline a special one-day event, Young Thug + Friends, taking place on December 16th at State Farm Arena. According to him, the show is being put together for a benefit, though the details of that benefit have yet to be fully revealed.
A Young Thug homecoming concert is already a massive moment, but what truly has me interested is the “+ Friends” portion of the announcement. Remember, a few months ago, phone calls where Thug had some unflattering things to say about his homies leaked—everyone from Drake to Future, Gucci Mane, and Lil Baby. The possibility of any of these heavy hitters popping out for surprise performances is intriguing.
I’m also expecting multiple members of YSL to join him onstage. Despite everything that has happened within the camp over the past couple of years, the idea of Thug linking up with his day-ones adds an emotional and symbolic weight to the night.
There is, however, one name fans aren’t counting on: Gunna. Their relationship has been… complicated, to say the least. Still, if Gunna did end up making a surprise appearance, it would be the kind of moment that shuts down Atlanta in real time. The internet might not survive it.
We may have to pull up to that concert. How far is LA from Atlanta by train?
